Sure, there were rains these past few days, but none really so strong that could cause severe damages to phone lines, electric wires and the likes. So, why am I having intermittent internet connection again?!

It’s really is frustrating to be ‘hanged’ in the middle of your work and finally be met by the sign “Problem Loading Page.”

So, what’s the problem with Digitel again this time?

No, I didn’t bother calling them… yet. Why? Because I hate to be patronized with the scripted words “I’m sorry for that inconvenience, sir.” and “Is there something else I can help you with, sir?”

Really now, with companies with such technologies, you would at least expect that they would inform whenever they are doing some maintenance work in their lines… but nada!

You’ll just know it when call them after being frustrated by erratic internet connection.

But fail to pay your dues, and you’ll surely hear it from them.

It’s really is frustrating when your main source of income depends on the internet and you’re internet connection is going haywire. Makes you want to smash the monitor of your computer like you would a television (sounds familiar?).

For more than three weeks now, my internet connection has been very erratic and I have called Digitel to inquire about it. But before I called them, I got my PC checked and upgraded the memory of my computer (because I thought it was my PC’s fault before).

After fixing my computer and still getting the same problem, I called them and they informed me that there was a ‘network fault.’ What’s funny is that they asked me when my internet problem started. Imagine that, they know the problem yet they asked when it started?!

I got my internet connection the same day I posted about how poor Digitel service is, although that post has nothing to do with the reconnection of my line. I posted that in an internet cafe after I went to the Digitel office.

Yes, I have to go to their office personally to follow-up my request. No thanks to their supposedly ‘Hotline‘ At the office, they didn’t even explain why the reconnection of my internet line was delayed, nor did they say there was already a follow-up from their hotline that was relayed to them (I called them twice, remember?)

Obviously, the hotline didn’t refer my concern to them, maybe that’s why didn’t bother to get back to me.

If I didn’t go to their office personally, maybe until now I am still blogging from an internet cafe.

“Within 24 hours sir” this was the promise of Digitel after making our payment last October 30, 2008 at their Nepo office. 96 hours and two calls to their customer service hotline later, still no internet connection.

I could have opted to change my internet service provider, but Digitel is too cunning. I have a two-year contract with them, if I terminate my internet service I will still be required to pay for the remaining number of months. Is that even legal?

If I don’t pay, even without my internet connection, my monthly dues will still pile up. Yes, that is Digitel’s system. Everything is always to their favor. Is that typical? Or is it because of the company’s owners?

That is the problem with most service companies, unless you start shouting at the top of your voice, your concern wouldn’t be attended to. Either that or you should be someone really important to be noticed.

Right now, I still don’t know how many 24 hours more will pass before I can get my internet connection back… if ever I get it back within my lifetime. I wonder if this can be elevated to DTI? (But then, that is another service institution isn’t it?)
