I’m sure you’ve seen them in the malls, those big, open-shelves type hardware stores where you buy your tools, electrical supplies, and the like as if you’re just buying from a grocery store - you just pick-up the items you need. They were often referred to as do-it-yourself shops for all the handyman in us.

Yesterday, I learned first hand why they called them do-it-yourself shops.

Until where does the authority of a teacher over our children extend?

Does this authority means that they can touch them? Impose their will on them?

My son came from school this afternoon, he was begging me to allow him to get a haircut. I asked him why he wanted to get a haircut immediately. Then he told that his teacher, a certain Mr. Tamayo cut one side of his hair because he has a long sideburn.

Some facts you might want to know: Mr. Tamayo is teaching Pilipino subject and not Military Science, my son is in second year high school and is not in any way attending any advance military science subjects. And I don’t recall any school policies allowing them to cut the students’ hair.

I appreciate the effort of the school to make their students presentable, but in now way is my son not presentable in his hair as he has so conscious lately and is always combing his hair.

I know, some people may think that this just small stuff…

But those who believe that this is something serious and should be looked into, I would appreciate suggestions or assistance on how to reach the proper authority regarding this incident.

By the way, I’m from Angeles City and the school I’m referring to is the Francisco G. Nepomuceno High School in Pandan.

Working as a call center agent seems to be ‘in’ thing these days, and with Clark being developed into a freeport zone has a lot of these opportunities with the influx of various locators in the said place.

One such locator is eTelecare who has this announced on PBO online forum through a member Jeff Bonus. I’m re-posting his announcement here for all who might be interested in this opportunity

I’m reposting this as we continue to hire more call center agents.

eTelecare Clark (a BPO) continues to hire interested applicants. We deliver Technical and Billing support to a reputable Internet Service Provider in the US and a giant Computer company… and still expanding. All calls (Phone, Chat and Email) are inbound.

If you’re residing in Pampanga or nearby provinces and dream to work in Clark having decent compensation with highly competitive benefit packages, I can probably help you so.

Of all the utilities provider here in Angeles City, the water district I believe has the most inefficient billing system. And this is not based from hearsay, but from my own experience. Ironically, they are the only one who penalizes members for late payment.

In my previous business location, it’s very rare that I receive my water bill. If ever I’ll receive it, it’s going to be late… as in two to three months late. Unfortunately, they already carry penalties with them. All the utilities company actually has the same billing delivery system. They are delivered manually by their own people right to the subscriber’s doorstepsupposedly. But like I said, I am not receiving my water bill.
