Just when I thought that I would have peace of mind because I am not receiving and text adverts for quite a while now, nor do my cell phone credits mysteriously disappear… I received a text from Globe which says that I could get 15 free text credits if I would be able to load a total amount of P340 for the month of September.
What?! 15 for P340?!
Honestly, I could accumulate that amount from my monthly load without a problem, but to equate 15 free texts for such an amount… should I be thankful?

I could have been P100,000 richer, that is what I was told by the text message I recieved from Globe. The message said I could be the winner of the P100,000 prize for the week, but I still need to text their number - 2346
Now, anyone who knows Globe’s scheming ways knows that once you texted 2346, you will activate a subscription from anything that they are offering, and from then on you’ll be receiving text alerts wherein you will be charged P2.50 each!

2008 saw me posting feedback and reviews of services that I have experienced and seen firsthand. From the water district’s system of charging their subscribers from their employees’ inefficiency, the CAP’s refusal to fulfill their obligations and the government’s indifference to the plight of the plan holders.
I have also blogged about how uninformed employees of Jollibee don’t know the mechanics of their promo. And this even has a follow-up because Jollibee keeps on calling me. Of course, my latest post about a fastfood was an incident brought about by a request for an extra ketchup.
Being a former banker, I know what to expect when I am on the receiving end of the service. That’s why I was so disappointed when I opened an account at PNB, and I was surprised when I was charged for a check deposit at BDO.

I used to load my prepaid cellphone as I was getting inquiries on my personalized items every now and then, especially my personalized chocolate bars. My network provider is Globe, and I was having no problem as far as communicating with others is concerned, both with Globe and those with other network.
But one day, I noticed upon inquiry of my balance on 222, my load balance is not correct. What’s worse is that, I inquired it again after a few minutes, I got a different balance and this time it’s much lower than the first one.
Eventually, my load balance became zero, nil, and I haven’t sent a text nor called anybody. My reaction - GLOBE IS STEALING MY LOAD!

After my experiment with the mobile banking, I again set to embark on another technology available on my mobile phone. This time I tried to explore G-Cash. Maybe for those who have been using it for quite some time now, this isn’t so much a biggie. But for someone like me who’s use to doing things the traditional way, things like this could be so overwhelming.
I actually have enrolled to G-Cash even before I enrolled to mobile banking, but it is syntax driven. You have to memorize syntax and manually type them on your cellphone before sending them. But when I downloaded the menu for the mobile banking, I found out that there is also a menu for G-Cash that I can download. Cool!

I just registered my cellphone for BPI Mobile Banking, finally after years of seeking information on how this thing work. Bank branch personnels I have asked before are clueless about this and their customer service hotline gives too much a mouthful that you’ll definitely be lost along the way.
But I have been doing online banking for years now, so I guess informations must also be available on their website. So I browsed their site and found the informations I needed to register for this mobile banking. Registered my cellphone and account number and tried to give it a dry run while I still have a small balance in my account.
