Sure, there were rains these past few days, but none really so strong that could cause severe damages to phone lines, electric wires and the likes. So, why am I having intermittent internet connection again?!
It’s really is frustrating to be ‘hanged’ in the middle of your work and finally be met by the sign “Problem Loading Page.”
So, what’s the problem with Digitel again this time?
No, I didn’t bother calling them… yet. Why? Because I hate to be patronized with the scripted words “I’m sorry for that inconvenience, sir.” and “Is there something else I can help you with, sir?”
Really now, with companies with such technologies, you would at least expect that they would inform whenever they are doing some maintenance work in their lines… but nada!
You’ll just know it when call them after being frustrated by erratic internet connection.
But fail to pay your dues, and you’ll surely hear it from them.

I’m sure you’ve seen them in the malls, those big, open-shelves type hardware stores where you buy your tools, electrical supplies, and the like as if you’re just buying from a grocery store - you just pick-up the items you need. They were often referred to as do-it-yourself shops for all the handyman in us.
Yesterday, I learned first hand why they called them do-it-yourself shops.

Just when I thought that I would have peace of mind because I am not receiving and text adverts for quite a while now, nor do my cell phone credits mysteriously disappear… I received a text from Globe which says that I could get 15 free text credits if I would be able to load a total amount of P340 for the month of September.
What?! 15 for P340?!
Honestly, I could accumulate that amount from my monthly load without a problem, but to equate 15 free texts for such an amount… should I be thankful?

It’s really is frustrating when your main source of income depends on the internet and you’re internet connection is going haywire. Makes you want to smash the monitor of your computer like you would a television (sounds familiar?).
For more than three weeks now, my internet connection has been very erratic and I have called Digitel to inquire about it. But before I called them, I got my PC checked and upgraded the memory of my computer (because I thought it was my PC’s fault before).
After fixing my computer and still getting the same problem, I called them and they informed me that there was a ‘network fault.’ What’s funny is that they asked me when my internet problem started. Imagine that, they know the problem yet they asked when it started?!

I could have been P100,000 richer, that is what I was told by the text message I recieved from Globe. The message said I could be the winner of the P100,000 prize for the week, but I still need to text their number - 2346
Now, anyone who knows Globe’s scheming ways knows that once you texted 2346, you will activate a subscription from anything that they are offering, and from then on you’ll be receiving text alerts wherein you will be charged P2.50 each!

This couldn’t come at a more appropriate time, an increased in benefits of PhiliHealth members. Come April 5, 2009, members will enjoy a 35% increased in benefits, in almost all possible benefits a member can avail of.
Although, reading from the PIA website, the motivation for 35% increase for members is President Arroyo’s birthday (sounds political, if you ask me). Anyway, for whatever reason as long as we, members, get to avail of these benefits without hassle and prejudice.

2008 saw me posting feedback and reviews of services that I have experienced and seen firsthand. From the water district’s system of charging their subscribers from their employees’ inefficiency, the CAP’s refusal to fulfill their obligations and the government’s indifference to the plight of the plan holders.
I have also blogged about how uninformed employees of Jollibee don’t know the mechanics of their promo. And this even has a follow-up because Jollibee keeps on calling me. Of course, my latest post about a fastfood was an incident brought about by a request for an extra ketchup.
Being a former banker, I know what to expect when I am on the receiving end of the service. That’s why I was so disappointed when I opened an account at PNB, and I was surprised when I was charged for a check deposit at BDO.

Today, I went to a McDonald outlet near my daughter’s school to buy her food. It was their school’s Christmas party, I decided to just buy her food from the fast food instead of bringing some from our house (like I can cook a decent meal for baon).
Anyway, my daughter Angel is studying at Holy Family and there are many fastfood outlets near their school, so I guess there won’t be any problem.

I used to load my prepaid cellphone as I was getting inquiries on my personalized items every now and then, especially my personalized chocolate bars. My network provider is Globe, and I was having no problem as far as communicating with others is concerned, both with Globe and those with other network.
But one day, I noticed upon inquiry of my balance on 222, my load balance is not correct. What’s worse is that, I inquired it again after a few minutes, I got a different balance and this time it’s much lower than the first one.
Eventually, my load balance became zero, nil, and I haven’t sent a text nor called anybody. My reaction - GLOBE IS STEALING MY LOAD!

Just when you thought that you can get your money anytime, you can’t find an ATM that can provide the service that it was supposed to give. I just arrived home after trying at five ATMs - yes, that’s five! And not one was working!
Well so much for the interconnection of Megalink, Bancnet and Expressnet, if the bank who owns the machine are inefficient, technology is nothing. It is still very much dependent on the dedication and commitment of the people to provide service by making sure these machines are functioning and has money in them.
Those three I’ve mentioned are all represented by the ATMs I went into.
I’ll say it again, technology is nothing without dedicated customer service.
