You have been doing business for quite a long time now, albeit you’re just on grassroots level so to speak. You want to go and expand your market, you think you are ready and you believe that the best way to do it is by advertising in national newspapers and magazines. That’s a good plan, but you don’t how to go about it – where to start? What do you need? Where do you go?

Well, today is your lucky day, because I stumbled upon an article on the internet that discusses how to advertise in the magazines and newspapers.

It tells you all the details that you need to know about print advertising, such as the artwork, print quality, the elements necessary for the print add, and how to achieve the best results in your advertisement.

Last Saturday, after attending iBlog5, my friend Zorlone was kind enough to drop me off in Monumento so I can conveniently ride the bus at the Victory Liner terminal.

As I went towards the cashier to get my ticket, I noticed a sign on the cashier’s window which says something like “paying for insurance is voluntary” and I remembered that Victory Liner charge their passengers for insurance when you pay for your fare at the terminal.

Since I haven’t been travelling for quite a long time, I asked the cashier how much is the fare up to Dau, where I would get off (the bus I’m riding will be going to Dagupan), to which she answered P122.00, so I gave her P125.

She gave me my P3 change and two tickets… wait! Two tickets?!

I could have been P100,000 richer, that is what I was told by the text message I recieved from Globe. The message said I could be the winner of the P100,000 prize for the week, but I still need to text their number - 2346

Now, anyone who knows Globe’s scheming ways knows that once you texted 2346, you will activate a subscription from anything that they are offering, and from then on you’ll be receiving text alerts wherein you will be charged P2.50 each!

As an accountant, I know that one of the principles in any accounting system is consistency. But why is it that LPG (liquified petroleum gas) dealers does not have any consistency in their accounting system?

Or at least, most of them.

I am referring to their inventory system.

By practice, most companies used the FIFO inventory system. FIFO means first-in, first-out. This is most specially true for perishable items, to ensure that stocks and inventory are always fresh and in good condition.

Aside from the physical movement of the merchandise, it also refers to the valuation of the inventory.

2008 saw me posting feedback and reviews of services that I have experienced and seen firsthand. From the water district’s system of charging their subscribers from their employees’ inefficiency, the CAP’s refusal to fulfill their obligations and the government’s indifference to the plight of the plan holders.

I have also blogged about how uninformed employees of Jollibee don’t know the mechanics of their promo. And this even has a follow-up because Jollibee keeps on calling me. Of course, my latest post about a fastfood was an incident brought about by a request for an extra ketchup.

Being a former banker, I know what to expect when I am on the receiving end of the service. That’s why I was so disappointed when I opened an account at PNB, and I was surprised when I was charged for a check deposit at BDO.

McDo KetchupToday, I went to a McDonald outlet near my daughter’s school to buy her food. It was their school’s Christmas party, I decided to just buy her food from the fast food instead of bringing some from our house (like I can cook a decent meal for baon).

Anyway, my daughter Angel is studying at Holy Family and there are many fastfood outlets near their school, so I guess there won’t be any problem.

I used to load my prepaid cellphone as I was getting inquiries on my personalized items every now and then, especially my personalized chocolate bars. My network provider is Globe, and I was having no problem as far as communicating with others is concerned, both with Globe and those with other network.

But one day, I noticed upon inquiry of my balance on 222, my load balance is not correct. What’s worse is that, I inquired it again after a few minutes, I got a different balance and this time it’s much lower than the first one.

Eventually, my load balance became zero, nil, and I haven’t sent a text nor called anybody. My reaction - GLOBE IS STEALING MY LOAD!

Just when you thought that you can get your money anytime, you can’t find an ATM that can provide the service that it was supposed to give. I just arrived home after trying at five ATMs - yes, that’s five! And not one was working!

Well so much for the interconnection of Megalink, Bancnet and Expressnet, if the bank who owns the machine are inefficient, technology is nothing. It is still very much dependent on the dedication and commitment of the people to provide service by making sure these machines are functioning and has money in them.

Those three I’ve mentioned are all represented by the ATMs I went into.

I’ll say it again, technology is nothing without dedicated customer service.
