Globe’s scheming ways

I could have been P100,000 richer, that is what I was told by the text message I recieved from Globe. The message said I could be the winner of the P100,000 prize for the week, but I still need to text their number - 2346
Now, anyone who knows Globe’s scheming ways knows that once you texted 2346, you will activate a subscription from anything that they are offering, and from then on you’ll be receiving text alerts wherein you will be charged P2.50 each!
I really don’t understand why do they want us to text that number when they could just say if we won outright. Why do they have to trick us into texting a number that would automatically send us text alerts even if it was not our intention?
And once you get that 2346 activated, it is difficult to get it deactivated. Not even with an OFF option that you’ll send to the same (as what the text message you’ll receive will tell you). Even if you text OFF, you will still receive text alerts and you will always be charged P2.50 each time.
So what do you do? Call customer service 211 to have it deactivated by them. But be prepared for a long discussion — that is if you’re lucky enough to get through in your first attempt.
Here’s another one, a text message that says I got 10 FREE text! Wow! Isn’t that swell?! FREE TEXT, but wait, that’s not all there is to it. The message say, I can get my 10 free text if I buy P75 worth of load for my phone! That’s just great! I need to spend P75 just to get that 10 free text!
By they way, more often than not, my cell phone does not have a load — nada! zero! zilch! Why? Because everytime I load my phone, my credits ‘miraculously’ disappear! Just like what I said in a previous post about the dangers of autoloading, my cell phone credits are being ’stolen’ until now! That’s why I never put credits in my phone anymore, unless it is really necessary.
Now, here is where I qualify my post. If anyone believes that 2346 doesn’t cause you to ’subscribe’ to any of Globe’s service, or if anybody has really won from those text sent by Globe, do tell me, and I will gladly note it on this post… correct myself, if necessary.
But in the meantime, what I wrote all based on previous - personal and first-hand, experience.

My smart load disappears too in a flash . I’m still determining what’s the cause of this “phenomenon”. They’re very dishonest if that’s the case. A more appropriate term would be “inveigle.” lol. How could some people “stomach” this?
I always receive these alerts, what exactly did you do?
inveigle [in-vey-guhl, -vee-] verb — to entice, lure, or ensnare by flattery or artful talk or inducements
I was able to use my online dictionary again, lol
I didn’t do anything. I just don’t load my cell phone anymore. that’s I reply to your text through e-mails, twitter or chikka

2346 is a personal subscription. At the end of each message when you are sent a tone is an instruction on how to unsubscribe should you wish to. Check it out, what you need to do is to reply back “STOP ALL” or STOP [code]. You will then get a confirmation message that you have stopped your subscription.
You may have been receiving tones still after you have texted OFF simply because you were not able to follow the instructions po.
You can also visit any business center of Globe to inquire about expiration periods of loads depending on the amount loaded.
mga stupid talagang itong celfon giants na to! sna nga matuloy ang imbestigasyon ni sen. enrile kasi pati xa nauubos ng load ng di nagagamit ehhhee! grggg.gg
@nancy
very convenient and a very typical answer.
are you connected with globe? it should really be a personal subscription, but then, I never made any subscription! I should know, it’s my phone.
pinagpipilitan lang lagi ng globe (kayo ba yun?) na nag-subscribe kami. at pinapalabas na ang user ang mali (or worst, pinapalabas pang tanga) at kahit na ipa-stop o i-off mo pa, tuloy pa rin!
@elmot
sana nga may mangyari sa imbestigasyon ni enrile
kahit saan ang daming corrupt! pati ba naman sa load naten? me and my mom has been globe subscriber for over 5 years now… now im more happy w/ my sun in terms of ‘globe disappearing’ loads than ever. but i still use my globe bcoz most of my friends and my contacts knew this no. i have like forever! i just called the globe hot line to complain about my mom’s missing load a while ago. as i think i had some good results from previously complaining about my own accnt’s missing load! kahit ppano parang di na nanakaw load ko but my mom’s load got worsen recently..1 day plang ng load..minsan nga ilang oras palang..naglalaho nlng..di naman nggamit sa calls etc…argh!
Ako rin..This 2346 has taken me 20php every time they send a MOVIE MMS. Eh di naman ako nag subscribe ahh..Bad nila!!
