This couldn’t come at a more appropriate time, an increased in benefits of PhiliHealth members. Come April 5, 2009, members will enjoy a 35% increased in benefits, in almost all possible benefits a member can avail of.
Although, reading from the PIA website, the motivation for 35% increase for members is President Arroyo’s birthday (sounds political, if you ask me). Anyway, for whatever reason as long as we, members, get to avail of these benefits without hassle and prejudice.
If only all hospitals, who claimed to be accredited, will be allowing all their patients to avail of the full benefits allowed to them. By experience, not all of them does… and one hospital I’ve seen, don’t really know how… and another one, it seems is earning from it.
And by our experience (again), from one who has been booked in hospitals at least once a year, not all professionals, voluntarily allow the Philhealth benefits be deducted from their professional fees, UNLESS you personally talk to them and personally ask them to do so.
Then again, if you’re in for a ‘packaged deal’ (like in cases of maternity, and other major operations), don’t expect any Philhealth deductions from your professional fees.
And lastly, with the increased benefits, I hope servicing at the offices of the agency’s office will also improve.
For one, like what I’ve written before, when you go through government service offices (SSS, PhilHealth, GSIS, and the like), you’ll be lucky to pass through tough security guards with your dignity intact.

thank you very much for that assurance Marlon
I just wish there’ll be more courtesy from the guards and the janitors/messengers who sometimes stay in lobby and act as liason…
thank you for your observation, with regards to that, guards and janitors (from contracting agencies) should not stay in the lobby or in areas not designated for them, they should do their job based on their contracts and duties and responsibilities, if you have spotted them in those areas, please call the attention of the manager for appropriate action…In that case, you can help us to uphold our public service
