Yes, February 23, Monday, was declared a holiday by President Arroyo in the commemoration of the EDSA Revolution under the power of Proclamation 1728.

It could be recalled that in the list of official Philippine’s holidays for 2009, February 25, which is the EDSA Revolution was not included. This has brought questions to many, this blogger included, as to why EDSA Revolution was omitted?

As an accountant, I know that one of the principles in any accounting system is consistency. But why is it that LPG (liquified petroleum gas) dealers does not have any consistency in their accounting system?

Or at least, most of them.

I am referring to their inventory system.

By practice, most companies used the FIFO inventory system. FIFO means first-in, first-out. This is most specially true for perishable items, to ensure that stocks and inventory are always fresh and in good condition.

Aside from the physical movement of the merchandise, it also refers to the valuation of the inventory.

That seems to be how it was in the featured news of Philippine Star today saying that Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile blew his top over a texter’s opinion.

The texter’s opinion was said to be about the proposed charter change (Cha-cha) which Enrile was said to be in favor of, as long as only “economic provisions would be touched” so the Philippines can attract investments at this time of the global crisis.

This was during his interview at a radio program. A listener then sent a text message to the station saying that “cha-cha would not be the answer to our country’s problem.

And Enrile’s reaction? He challenged the texter to a public debate for him to know what the texter’s have in mind.

It’s almost 26 years since the late Benigno Aquino Jr. was murdered on August 21, 1983 at the tarmac of the then Manila International Airport (now Ninoy Aquino International Airport or NAIA). Along with his death was also the death of his alleged killer Rolando Galman.

The Aquino-Galman double murder case, as it has become known, hasn’t seen a glimmer of hope in spite of numerous fact-finding committees that were formed. Not even with the capture and eventual jailing of those who were said to be involved in the case.

With the release of 2 convicts in the Aquino-Galman double murder case, it seems to be more and more becoming hopeless that the real perpetrators of the crime will be known.

I was about to write a blog post about the subject, when I read from the Inquirer last week that professors will undergo drug test.

We’ve been hearing it in the news lately, which was brought by the noise created by the Alabang boys, that students will be subjected to drug tests to be able to ’save’ them from the dangerous vice.

Some sectors thought of it as a human rights violation, although personally, I would agree to it. Unless they have something to hide, there’s no reason for them to be afraid of going through the test.
