SONA 2008

And this early, there has been lots of preparations, both from the camps of the administration and the opposition.
Transport groups are planning to stage a strike on the very same day the President will deliver her SONA, a former government official is said to have already delivered his own SONA. And all of these commotions will definitely continue, days after the SONA has been delivered.
It is expected of course that the President will highlight in her speech the achievements that her administration has. Others, on the other hand will contradict these as expected too. Although these same ‘others’ who will contradict the President’s SONA, will actually clap their hands and perhaps stand up to show appreciation and respect, during and after the delivery itself.
I am not a person who would follow political developments, as they are not worth the time. Unfortunately, since we are bombarded with it, day in and day out - through television, radio, newspaper and even internet, we can’t help but imbibe it in our system. And thus affect our otherwise productive day.
I never heard any SONA delivered without any opposition from anybody, in fact, I never saw any President who doesn’t have any adversary who would contradict him or her, no matter how he or she does. Our country takes pride in being able to replace our leaders through people power - a found weapon that I felt was abused and misused, and somehow have lost it’s real essence as far as change is concern.
Personally, I really don’t care what would be the content of the SONA. I can’t see how it can affect me personally, although all these political bickering has been definitely affecting me, and other’s too I suppose, as far Filipino self-esteem is concern. SONA or not, I do hope those people up there would really work and do what they are suppose to do, to be productive leaders who can really help people in what they really need. Instead of just throwing mud on each other’s face.
The SONA is just an episode… just another twist… just another plot, in our country’s political novela.
